Claude in Chrome now continues sessions across desktop, web, and mobile

Anthropic rolled Claude in Chrome's side panel into Cowork on August 12, 2026, so a session started in the browser now saves to the same history as the desktop, web, and mobile apps. A task begun in a Chrome tab can be picked up later on another device instead of staying stuck in that one browser session.

The update also brings skills and connectors into the browser extension itself. Anthropic points to internal dashboards, legacy systems, and vendor portals, tools with no API or native Claude integration, as the target case: Claude clicks through, fills forms, and pulls data using your existing login, then hands the result to a Cowork session you finish elsewhere.

That's a real fit for the kind of stitched-together internal tooling a small team runs without a dedicated integrations budget: gather invoice data from three vendor portals that expose no API, then finish the resulting spreadsheet in the desktop app against local files.

It ships on Max and Team plans now, with a Pro-tier rollout over the coming weeks. Enterprise admins get it off by default, with the option to scope it to approved domains.

Browser agents carry an injection-risk regardless of vendor, and Anthropic addresses it directly rather than glossing over it: consequential actions like submitting a form, sending a message, or downloading a file get checked against the original request before they execute. The company states plainly that this "meaningfully reduces the risk" without eliminating it, worth weighing before pointing a browser agent at anything handling real credentials or payment data.
